RAISING RESILIENT KIDS -- EXPERT PANEL DISCUSSION
THIS THURSDAY - March 22, 2018 -- 7pm at LJHS
Why should you attend this parent education panel? Being resilient is about so much more than just bouncing back, it's about navigating through. We parents want to learn how to teach our kids how to cope with whatever adversity they face. However, we don't always know the right words to say or have an idea of what action we could take. Please join our panel of psychologists, counselors and doctors as we learn about combating the stressors of today with the building blocks of resiliency.
- Admission is FREE -- parents only please; no child care provided.
- There will be a panel discussion and Q&A for parents. Panelists: Dr. Shannon Odell, PsyD; Dr. Bruce J. Birk, MD, FAAP; Dr. Richelle M. Neal, MD, FAAP; LJHS Counselors
- Presented by LJHS Parent Club, the LJHS Administration & Counselors, in association with Pediatric Associates NW
40 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - STEAM DAY ACTIVITIES
The first week after Spring Break -- April 4th, 1-2pm and 2-4pm at LJHS
LJHS needs 40 volunteers to make STEAM Day activities a success! This is also a great opportunity to interact with the students.
- From 1-2pm volunteers (8th grade parents) will be supervising students as they walk through the halls and observe 8th grade science projects.
- Then from 2-4pm volunteers (parents of all grades) will be partnered with a classroom teacher and help facilitate student hands-on STEAM activities -- no experience required! This would be the same 40 minute activity through 3 rotations of kids.
- Please contact Kari Curry at email@example.com with any questions.

IEP 2.0 PRESENTATION
Tuesday, March 20, 6-8pm at LOHS
Have you been through an IEP (Individualized Education Program) or two (or more) and still wonder if you're doing it right? How do you feel after your IEP meetings? Triumphant? Satisfied? Like you just got run over by a truck? This is IEP 2.0. For parents who know the basics but want to get even better. What does "restrictive" really mean? How can you get the AT (Assistive Technology) added to your IEP that you know your child needs? Hear from Caitlin Shockley, Education and Community Director at FACT Oregon (Families and Communities Together) as well as other parent vets who've been there. Bring your own IEP so you can follow along and ask the questions you've always wanted to ask.
