SCHOOL WIDE FIELD TRIP - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The LJH counseling team is organizing a school-wide field trip to support our students’ social emotional learning and to promote this year’s theme, Embracing Different. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Real Life Exhibit at Medical Teams International on May 13th, 15th or 17th (based on grade level). Medical Teams International is a humanitarian aid organization whose mission is to provide medical and dental care, humanitarian aid, and holistics development programs to all people in need regardless of religion, nationality, gender or race. The organization has a Christian faith affiliation though this is not the focus of the exhibit students will visit. If you’d like to learn more about the organization or the Real Life Exhibit, please visit their website here.
The Real Life Exhibit allows visitors to step into the lives and homes of people affected by crisis around the world - to see, hear, and feel what people in crisis live through daily. We're hopeful that students’ visit to the Real Life Exhibit and pre/post teacher-led activities at school will further help students develop their understanding and practice of empathy as well as translate into action-based follow-up.
We would love your help! We are looking for approximately 18 parent/guardian volunteers on each day for a two hour window. Please use this Sign-Up Genius link if you can volunteer.
